Recently our church had the privilege of sending financial support to AWANA and their ministry in Ukraine. On the back of the business card for AWANA it says, “Discipling millions starts with one.” This simple statement succinctly expresses the truth of the Gospel. Christ loves us individually. In John 15 Christ tells us to love as He loves. The AWANA missionaries love as He loves. They don’t just say the Gospel they live the Gospel, one child at a time. They are helping in the spiritual and physical needs while discipling one child at a time.
This is the type of missionary partner that we want to have as a church. And this is the type of partner we need to be for our missionaries in our church. What is the focus of our energy as a spiritual community? Is it living 2 Corinthians 1:3-4, “that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.”
There are many valid things that require our attention. There are many things that we feel we need to fix. Let’s pray together that none of those things keep us individually from fulfilling our part in the Gospel plan of God. Are you disciplining millions by starting with the one?
